CONSTITUTION
THE CENTRAL NEW YORK WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION
CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I – NAME
Section 1:The name of this organization shall be the Central New York District Women’s Golf Association.
ARTICLE II – PURPOSE
Section 1:The purpose of this organization shall be to promote fellowship in the game of golf throughout the District and to stimulate interest in amateur golf competition by scheduling a series of tournaments during the playing season.
ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP
Section 1:Any properly constituted golf club in the Central New York area shall be eligible for membership in this Association.The term “a properly constituted golf club”, for the purpose of the Association, shall mean a club with “a coordinated membership of women interested in playing mildly competitive golf against other women.”
Upon written application to an officer, a Club shall become a member of the association by a two-thirds vote of those present at any meeting of the member representatives at which there is a quorum, and subsequent payment of dues.(Club Membership is $20.00).
Section 2:Any woman golfer who is in good standing in a member club and has properly established a U.S.G.A. handicap at that club shall be eligible for individual membership in this association, subject to any ruling of the Board of Governors.
An eligible individual shall become a member of the association upon payment of a yearly fee provided in the By-Laws.(Individual Membership is $25.00).
Section 3:The following clubs constituted Charter Members of the Association (having paid dues in 1957):Auburn, Bath, Binghamton, Corning, Cortland, Highland, Ithaca, Owasco and Shepard Hills Country Clubs.
ARTICLE IV – BOARD OF GOVERNORS
Section 1:The control, general management of the entire policy of this association shall be vested in a Board of Governors which shall consist of one or two representatives from each Member Club selected by such Club, whose names shall be submitted at subsequent meetings.
ARTICLE V- OFFICERS
Section 1:The officers of the Association and the Board of Governors shall be the same officers and will include a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Section 2:The officers shall be elected by the Board of Governors at their Fall meeting.They shall be elected by a majority vote, shall take office at the Annual (SPRING) meeting of the association and shall serve as requested until there is reason to discontinue.
ARTICLE VI – MEETINGS
Section 1:The Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors shall be the Spring Meeting.
Section 2:The election of officers for the next year shall be held at the Fall meeting with the understanding that they will assume their respective duties and conduct the regular business at the following Annual Meeting.
ARTICLE VII – TOURNAMENTS
Section 1:The Board of Governors shall be responsible for scheduling of tournaments for the playing season.
Section 2:The awarding of Aggregate Prizes shall take place on the last scheduled tournament in the month of August.
ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS
Section 1:The Constitution and By-Laws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of those present at any Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors, provided a notice of the proposed changes has been set to all clubs at least two weeks before such Annual Meeting.
